Plastination by an Acid Curing Polymer at Room Temperature: A Pink City Technique

چکیده
Plastination was invented at the Anatomical Institute of Heidelberg University, Germany by Dr. Gunther Von Hagens in the year 1979, which permits excellent preservation of biological material. Our objective was to develop cost effective plastination technique by use of acid curing polymer as compared to standard S10 technique for preparation of plastinated specimens used for teaching. Specimens were fixed in formalin, dehydrated in acetone, degreased in xylene, and finally impregnated with acid curing polymer melamyne with its hardener and finally dried and painted at room temperature. Clean, desiccated, odorless, aesthetically pleasing, non-toxic, portable and durable specimens were produced which can be used as teaching aids. Cost of plastination using standard S10 technique is high so by using indigenous chemicals it is possible to build a library of real specimen for normal, exotic and pathological anatomy at much lower cost.

P96 Technique for Tissue Plastination in Preparing Long-Lasting Anatomical Specimens
Background: Plastination is a technique of long-term preservation of the natural tissues without the typical problems related to wet specimens. Plastinated specimens are durable, dry, and flexible. In this process, the water and fat in biological tissues are substituted by a curable polymeric resin, i.e., subsequently cured. In this study, a new unsaturated polyester resin (P96) was synthesized...

A convenient, one-pot method for the synthesis of diazonium salt has been developed by the sequential diazotization of aromatic amines with NaNO2, polymer- supported periodic acid (PPIA) and 2-naphthole under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. By using this method, several types of aromatic amine, containing electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups, were rapidly converted to ...

متن کاملA New Method of Brain Plastination
Introduction: Plastination is a unique technique for preservation of biological specimens used for teaching purposes. The protocol of flexible sheet plastination includes fixation, slicing, dehydration, force impregnation, casting, and curing (Hajian, Rabiei, Fatollahpour & Esfandiary, 2008). The procedure is done by using P87 flexible unsaturated polyester resin and provides heavy, gross, frag...
